Key Stage 4 Options Information
The Options Process, overseen by Deputy Headteacher Mrs Rhode, takes place during Year 9 and determines the subjects students will study in Years 10 and 11 for their GCSE or equivalent qualifications. It is crucial that students select subjects they are genuinely interested in and that align with their career goals.
Detailed information about each subject is available below and will also be provided during parents' evening. Preference forms and booklets containing information on each subject have been distributed to all students.
The mandatory subjects for students include:
- Maths
- English
- Science
- Core PE
- PSHE
Additionally, students will choose four optional subjects. The selection process is as follows:
- One subject from Block A
- One subject from Block B
- Two subjects from Blocks C and D
Students must also choose one reserve subject for Block A, one for Block B, and two reserves for Blocks C and D. It is essential that all selected and reserve subjects are ones the student is keen to study, ensuring all eight chosen subjects are distinct.
