Q3 Academy Tipton Welcomes Army Careers Further Education Roadshow

On Friday 17th January, Q3 Academy Tipton Sixth Form welcomed the Birmingham Army Careers Centre who, as part of their ‘Further Education Roadshow’, exhibited their own Careers Fair and conducted a series of activities and presentations for the Academy’s Sixth Form students.

The purpose of the Roadshow is to highlight the Army’s career prospects and the wide-ranging employment sectors within it and to emphasise the schemes and courses available to allow students to gain the qualifications needed for joining the Army. This gave the Sixth Form students a real insight into the establishment, offering valuable, first-hand knowledge and experience.

The Army Careers Centre accomplished this by delivering informative presentations and conducting a range of engaging activities with students; using Virtual Reality headsets, configuring maps and getting up, close and personal with technical equipment and armour.

The students were inquisitive; asking a range of questions to the serving Officers and Soldiers stood before them, all of whom embodied an array of skills, knowledge and understanding.

Q3 Academies find it of paramount importance to ensure its students engage with employers from a range of work sectors and are aware of all avenues available to them after their Sixth Form studies.

The Sixth Form students at Q3 Tipton found the day to be an informative and enjoyable experience, one that will certainly be welcomed back in the future. Positive feedback about the event is included in the testimony of Sixth Form student Katie, who found the Further Education Roadshow to be both eye opening and beneficial in helping firm her decisions about life after Sixth Form.

“Before Friday I’d never really considered the Army as a career path due to my main focus being on nursing, but after speaking to one of the visitors on Friday about the nursing roles in the Army I realised that it seemed like a good option for me so I decided to apply” – Katie, Year 12

Q3 Academies looks forward to continuing to work with the Army Careers Centres and building on an already positive relationship, to continue encouraging its students to be active in their approach to career prospects.
