Please find attached the Half Term Revision for Q3 Tipton.
We are delighted to announce that formal merger of the Mercian and Q3 Academies Trusts was completed on the 1st May 2022. A message from our Chief Executive as follows.
Our Trust merger and transfer of the 3x Q3 Academies into The Mercian Trust is complete. We are now a family of 9 schools and more than 9,000 students.
We are not a one-size-fits-all Trust, we value the unique and rich character of each of our schools. But now, as one Trust, we move beyond simply cooperating and collaborating with each other to being a family, committed to one another, cheering each other on!
For the benefit of our students and the communities we serve we will drive improvement, foster innovation and provide mutual support to each other as we share knowledge, expertise and resources.
Thank you to all the parents and carers of Years 7, 8 and 10 for your support with remote learning. All students returned today – but sadly not all staff have been well enough to return and we now have additional absences. Because we don’t have enough teachers to deliver lessons, enough Inclusion staff to cover all duties, and cannot obtain enough supply staff, we have little option for your child’s education and learning to move some year groups to remote learning this week again. Although we hope this will get us through the week, we may need to update these plans should additional staff be unable to come to work.
Year 7 – attend school every day
Year 8 – remote learning on Thursday only, in school Tuesday and Wednesday
Year 9 – remote learning on Tuesday and Wednesday, in school on Thursday
Year 10 – remote learning on Tuesday only, in school Wednesday and Thursday
Year 11 – attend school every day
Sixth Form – attend school every day
A reminder that we break up at 3:05pm on Thursday for the Easter Break
Staffing at the Academy has been devastated by both COVID and the sickness and diarrhoea bug that is also affecting students. By lunch time we were thirty staff down, which is over 20% of our overall staffing. We simply cannot cover all classes or duties, especially then the teaching supply agencies have no one available.
Therefore all students in Years 7, 8 and 10 will move to remote learning tomorrow and Friday. Students in Years 9, 11 and Sixth Form should attend as normal.
Teachers who are well and in school will deliver live lessons according to the timetable. All classes will have work uploaded to Google Classroom.
As promised, I can now confirm that both Year 8 and Year 9 will need to move to remote learning on Google Classroom on these days:
Although we hope for all students to be taught in the Academy as normal on Friday, if this changes we will notify you. However, it WON’T be Years 8 or 9 out on Friday.
The parents’ evening tonight will run as planned. Please see the earlier email about unavailable staff.
Unfortunately our staffing has been severely affected by COVID and other absences this week; this means we have no option but to move key year groups to remote learning via Google Classroom.
Tuesday 25 January – Years 8 and 10 only
Wednesday 26 January – Years 8 and 9 only
Thursday 27 January – Year 9 only
Teachers who are well and in school will deliver live lessons but for all other classes, and for students who don’t have their own device or sufficient data/wifi, we will also upload learning tasks to Google Classroom.
vaccinations will go ahead as planned on Thursday for those that have signed up and we will contact the parents/carers of Year 9 students with alternative arrangements.
Thank you for your support.
On Monday 31 January we are holding a parents’ evening for both Year 8 and 9 students. We are offering both in-person and online meetings this time due to the community still being affected by COVID.
All appointments must be booked using our online booking platform below using the logins previously shared with you. For help logging on please contact Ms Taft.
